Alzheimer's Research UK:

Website Launched to Explain Dementia to Young People

Alzheimer’s Research UK has launched a new website aimed at helping children and teenagers understand dementia, how it affects someone and how this could impact their lives.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is a leading research charity which powers world-class studies aimed at defeating dementia. Its work focuses on prevention, treatment and cure.

The charity works to energise a movement across society to support, fund and take part in dementia research. The charity also aims to empower people across all generations through greater understanding of dementia.

The Dementia Explained project started as partnership between Alzheimer’s Research UK and a group of staff from the pharmaceutical company Eisai Ltd, who chose to dedicate their time to helping children understand dementia.

The website has been developed with contributions from young people and families with experiences of dementia and has three sections, each aimed at different age groups; young kids, juniors and teens. Each section is colourful, interactive and packed with information.

Young people are encouraged to share their own stories, pictures and experiences on the website’s ‘memory board’.

You can find out more by visiting the Dementia Explained website.
